WELCOME HOME VETERAN'S ALLIANCE
LETTER FROM THE CHAIR:
For the past several months a special committee of our affiliate members, along with our association executive, have worked tirelessly in collaboration with Welcome Home Alliance for Veterans, to allow our REALTOR® members the opportunity to participate in ‘No Barriers Week’. REALTORS® met our veteran guests at the airport with signs and gift bags full of treats, compliments of area businesses, and transported them to their host. When it was time to depart our beautiful community, REALTORS® along with a partnering affiliate, picked them up from their host and delivered them back to the airport and graced them with good-bye gifts. The veterans were treated like royalty as they experienced Ouray and Montrose county adventures and repeatedly complimented on their unforgettable experience. In fact, the eve before their departure, a special bar-b-que was held and stories were shared. Gratitude and emotions leaked out of every eye in attendance.
Every REALTOR® member who graciously volunteered their time to participate in this epic event was moved by an unforgettable experience. This was made possible because of the hard work and organizational efforts of our affiliate partners, and our amazing association executive, Janna Burton. They spent hours planning and coordinating, gathering ‘goodies’ for the gift bags, designing signs with proper recognition to rank and military branch, and so much more. They did this not for self promotion, but to allow us, their partnering REALTOR® members, the opportunity to be front and center in welcoming our special veteran guests to our community. Our affiliate partners recognize that there is no higher calling than serving our fellow man.
A huge shout out to my fellow board members who participated, as well as the
Broker/Owners. The law of the lid is evident in your leadership. Another shout out to our
REALTOR® members who brought their children and/or grandchildren to the airport for the greeting ceremony. Kudos to you for influencing our youth to respect our flag, our country, and the service men and women who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. Thank you to our other REALTOR® members who volunteered a few minutes out of their busy schedule to say, ‘Yes, count me in’. You are appreciated.
For a complete list of the affiliate committee who worked on the behalf of our affiliate
members, please see below. When you’re out and about, stop by and thank them for all they do for our REALTOR® members. For a complete list of our REALTOR® members who
volunteered their time, please see below. When you see them, ask them to share their
experience with you. And last but definitely not least, don’t forget to thank Janna for being the glue that bonds the REALTOR® and Affiliate partnership and for all the amazing work she’s done this year to support us in our businesses.

DOJ INVESTIGATING BIG TECH
Last week the DOJ announced that they will be reviewing big-tech influence in the online consumer markets. The announcement is worded such that the focus seems to be on Google, Facebook, and Amazon, but this provides a key opportunity for NAR to request that the investigation expand into the online real estate practices of company/services like Zillow, Opendoor, OfferPad, Redfin, etc.
