Strategic Plan

The 2024 - 2028 strategic plan was updated from the 2018 – 2023 which was created by the MAR Board of Directors, MAR Members and Industry Affiliates in December 2017, with the assistance of facilitator and Real Estate trainer John Gillam. The goals were developed through the Strategic Planning group’s analysis of the strengths and challenges of the association, while keeping with its Mission. This plan was updated for 2024-2028 on Wednesday March 8, 2023 by the MAR Board of Directors.

The Mission of the Montrose Association of REALTORS® is a forward-thinking, professional organization that embraces change and promotes the real estate industry and our communities—is to ensure value to our membership and to promote the REALTOR® brand to our communities through:

  • Having a dynamic leadership
  • Providing relevant education
  • Providing innovative technology
  • Having strong membership involvement
  • Building positive community relationships
  • Allocating the financial and human resources required to implement these initiatives.

Strategic Objectives

Dynamic Leadership

MAR will proactively address developing dynamic leadership for the Association and for our communities.

Consumer Outreach

MAR will make our community aware of REALTOR® contributions to and involvement in our community.

Advocacy

MAR will establish itself as the leading advocate in the formulation of public policy relating to private property rights and real estate.

Member Value

MAR will clearly communicate the value of the Association and benefits of participation.

Strategic Actions

1.

MAR will identify, utilize, and develop dynamic leadership and provide the necessary education and tools for their development. MAR will identify new and relevant class offerings that will benefit all members.  It will hold more board functions and leadership training opportunities in order to increase member participation and develop stronger leaders.

2.

MAR will encourage members to become more active in our communities where they live and work.  It will seek activities in which the members can become involved to make contributions in our communities.

3.

MAR will build positive community relationships by participating in local government activities and will encourage more member participation in community events.

MAR will educate members on the importance of individual participation in CAR and NAR Calls for Action.

MAR will continue to promote private property rights for the good of its members and their clients.

4.

MAR will promote and educate members on the value of being a REALTOR® and coach them on how to share that value with their clients.

MAR will work with its members on how to improve the public’s perception of who a REALTOR® is.

MAR will establish itself as the voice of real estate through advertising and local involvement.

MAR will survey membership to determine the type of technology they currently use.  They will collaborate with the multiple listing service to enhance member productivity and success by offering relevant technology as it becomes available.

MAR will develop a value proposition statement that outlines the benefits of being an Association member.

5.

Committees and Task Forces will be structured around the strategic objectives.
